COVID-19 Response in Collaboration with Humanity Heroes

As COVID-19 sweeps across the globe, governments worldwide have mandated lockdowns and other transmission control measures to combat the highly infectious virus. In Malaysia, a movement control order (MCO) was implemented on 18th March 2020, rendering the population unable to leave their homes unless it is essential. Spikes in infections in the country have also greatly dwindled supplies such as hand soaps, masks and gloves. As a result, we at GAIA decided to connect with Humanity Heroes, a Malaysian-based humanitarian non-profit organisation, so that we may help those in desperate need.

Humanity Heroes have done remarkable work abroad, from assisting refugees in Bangladesh to building hospitals and refugee camps. In light of the MCO and shortages in protective gear, GAIA and Humanity Heroes collaborated to distribute 2,000 face masks to low-income families in Kuala Lumpur. These masks were part of a care package that came with food and other essentials that have been requested by these families.
